Commencing in 1996, the 50th year after the death of MIURA Tamaki*, the Mt. Fuji International Opera Competition of Shizuoka is held once every three years to commemorate the world-famous prima donna, known for her ties to this prefecture.
The Mt. Fuji International Opera Competition of Shizuoka aims to discover young talented musicians and give a boost to their careers in the field of vocal music. It also hopes to contribute to the world-wide promotion of Shizuoka’s culture through international cultural exchange.
